Waste Management in the “New Normal”

Managing medical, municipal, and industrial wastes is a vital service in the fight against COVID‑19. The pandemic brought increased focus on contaminated and non‑contaminated wastes, and ministries issued action plans to ensure proper management. We observed increases in medical and household wastes in metropolitan areas, while hazardous industrial wastes declined due to reduced production. The coming year will reveal how these trends evolve. Despite undesirable slowdowns in some industries, the situation also created opportunities for companies involved in municipal/medical waste management and renewable energy.
